Here are some of the most common ways denture costs can be reduced or covered in Alberta and across Canada:
The Canadian Dental Care Plan: What It Covers and How It Works
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program offering financial assistance for eligible Canadians who don’t have private dental insurance.
Income-Based Co-Payment Breakdown
- Under $70,000: 100% of allowed amounts are covered
- $70,000–$79,999: 60% of allowed amounts are covered
- $80,000–$89,999: 40% of allowed amounts are covered

Alberta Programs for Seniors and Low-Income Adults
Alberta offers two helpful options for denture coverage:
Alberta Adult Health Benefit
- For low-income Albertans (18–64) who don’t qualify for other aid
- Covers basic denture services, including repairs and replacements
Dental and Optical Assistance for Seniors
- Available to Alberta residents aged 65+
- Coverage based on household income and assets
- Includes full and partial dentures, relines, and adjustments
These Alberta programs offer government help for dentures to eligible seniors and low-income adults. This low-income program pays for half the cost of treatment.
