Missing teeth can be challenging. Our partial dentures in Edmonton offer a practical solution, restoring your smile and ability to chew. At Schaefer Denture Clinic, we create partial dentures that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, giving you back the confidence you deserve.
Partial dentures can be a life-changing solution if you’re missing some of your natural teeth. They offer numerous benefits, making them an ideal choice for many people in Edmonton.

Partial dentures offer a budget-friendly way to restore your smile compared to other tooth replacement options.

Easily take them out for cleaning and maintenance, ensuring optimal oral hygiene.

Crafted to blend seamlessly with your existing teeth for a natural appearance.

Help prevent your remaining teeth from shifting and maintain proper jaw alignment.

Significantly restore your ability to chew by replacing your missing back teeth.
We understand that getting partial dentures might seem a bit daunting at first. Rest assured, our process at Schaefer Denture Clinic is designed to be smooth, comfortable, and tailored to your individual needs.
Here’s a step-by-step look at what you can expect:
We’ll start with a thorough consultation to assess your oral health, discuss your needs, and answer any questions you may have. We also talk about the steps it takes to make dentures and check any insurance plans you might have.
We send you to a dentist so they can assess the health of your teeth, to ensure they are strong enough to withstand the forces of a new partial denture. Any cleanings or fillings should be done at this point.
We take starting impressions to assess your teeth and plan the design of the cast partial framework, which is like the skeleton of the partial denture. We can also plan if any teeth need changes or “Rest preparations” which allow space for the metal frame to fit tightly against your teeth.
We send you back to the dentist so they can make small groves or changes to your natural teeth. These changes are very minor but are necessary for the fit of the partial dentures.
We’ll take precise impressions of your teeth with their changes done. This ensures that the partial dentures fit as tightly and as healthy as possible.
Using surveying technology, we’ll design a custom framework that provides optimal support and a healthy fit. We then send your model and design to a lab who will fabricate the frame for us.
We will try in the freshly made framework against your teeth to make sure it fits passively (without pressure). Any adjustments to the frame at this point can be done if needed.
We now will attach denture teeth to the metal frame. Then put the denture in your mouth. This appointment allows us to see the look of the teeth as well as the shade. This is vital to ensure your partial denture looks as natural as possible.
Once your partial dentures are ready, we’ll carefully place them in your mouth. Our denturist will help you insert and remove them. It can take a lot of practice to take them in and out correctly. At this point, we will make any necessary adjustments for maximum comfort and function.
If you have any discomfort or pain, follow up adjustments are included for 3 months. It takes about 3 months to get used to a new denture.
We understand that your partial dentures are an investment in your smile and confidence. That’s why we take great care in crafting them using a personalized, meticulous process.

We'll start by assessing your oral health and working closely with your dentist to determine the best course of action for your partial denture needs.

We'll take precise impressions of your teeth and gums to create a custom-fit metal framework that acts as the "skeleton" of your partial denture.

Once the framework is ready, we'll have you try it on to ensure a perfect fit. We'll also select the ideal tooth shape and shade to match your natural teeth.

Our skilled denturists will complete your partial dentures in our on-site lab. We'll then insert them, teach you proper placement and removal techniques, and make any final adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and function.

Your partial dentures are an investment in your oral health and confidence. Proper care is crucial to ensure their longevity and keep your smile looking its best. Here are some essential tips:

Brush twice daily: Gently brush your partial dentures with an extra soft-bristled brush and non-abrasive denture cleaner. This removes food debris and plaque, preventing stains and bad breath.

Soak overnight: Soak your dentures in a denture cleaning solution overnight (or as directed) to remove any remaining bacteria and keep them fresh.

Rinse thoroughly after each meal: Food can get trapped around the partial denture. Rinsing after a meal will help maintain the health of your teeth, gums and dentures.

Handle with care: Partial dentures are delicate. Be sure to handle them with care to avoid dropping or damaging them. For example: Brush them over a towel or sink filled with water.

Clean your mouth: Brush and floss your natural teeth, gums, and tongue twice daily to maintain good oral hygiene.

Clean your dentures thoroughly before and after storing them: When you're not wearing your partial dentures, store them in a container. Be sure to clean them well before placing them in their container.

Keep away from heat/cold: Avoid exposing your dentures to freezing or boiling temperatures, as this can cause them to deform.

Visit your denturist regularly: Schedule routine checkups with your denturist to ensure your partial dentures are fitting properly and to address any concerns you may have.

Don't attempt repairs or adjustments yourself: If your dentures become damaged, or sore don't try to fix them yourself. Contact your denturist for professional repairs and adjustments. Self adjusting can ruin a denture. And using super glue to repair them will not last and can make the dentures irreversibly damaged. Super glue can also be very toxic.
